      <image:title>Intermediate Guitar Lessons - intermediate GUITAR</image:title>
<image:caption>Intermediate guitarists can typically play a dozen or so songs that incorporate various strumming patterns, picking patterns, and playing melodies; as well as a few scales. They’re often capable of finding tabs or chord sheets on the internet and can sometimes play the songs they want to learn on their own, but not all the time. And there’s the dreaded F chord that’s such a challenge to get all 6 notes to ring... I have helped countless people get over the barre chord ‘hump’, and doing so is very rewarding because once you can play a song that uses all barre chords you are very close to being able to learn whatever song you want. With practice, patience, and methods I’ve been using for two decades, we can get you there.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Bushwick Guitar Lessons offers students of all skill levels customized musical instruction that will improve their technique, artistry, and enjoyment of learning how to play, read, and write music on the electric or acoustic guitar. Whether you are an absolute beginner, self-taught from tabs off the internet, or a seasoned pro trying to get their playing out of a rut; we can work together to help you achieve your guitar related goals in the most effective manner for your personal learning style in a fun and focused learning environment. What in the heck is a Bushwick, anyway? As the song goes, “Even old New York was once New Amsterdam!”, and the Dutch influence still remains in New York City in everything from Van Cortland Park in the Bronx to Seinfeld’s Van Delay Industries. Bushwick translates to ‘heavy woods’, and was the neighborhood where I lived, taught lessons, and played shows during my decade long tenure there.</image:caption>

I had no prior guitar experience, and have learned so much more from him than I could have on my own. I was daunted by how much there is to know and learn about guitar, but he has made it approachable and fun. If you are seeking a guitar instructor, look no further!” -Caresse H.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Beginner Guitar Lessons - BEGINNING GUITAR</image:title>
<image:caption>Beginner students will learn the foundational aspects of working with music, understanding how that music translates onto the guitar, and the physical aspect of how to hold the instrument in the most effective manner for getting a good sound. Standard chords, strumming patterns, scales, and exercises are taught so that those techniques will already be familiar when faced with learning more challenging songs in the future. I have an extensive library of standard, popular, and non-standard (and not popular) songs by artists like Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Bob Marley, and Pink Floyd that are easy for beginner students to play so we can quickly and effectively get you learning the music that has inspired you to want to pick up the guitar to begin with!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Jazz Guitar Lessons - JAZZ GUITAR</image:title>
<image:caption>The mechanics of ‘why’ are a bit much to discuss here, but suffice it to say: jazz is a rather difficult style to learn on the guitar (I can happily talk about it at length in a lesson). To truly get the most out of learning this style, the student really needs to be able to execute barre chords. But, if you’re at that level and ready to start improvising to chord changes and reharmonizing Real Book tunes, then let’s dive in! I have several different methods designed for different levels of jazz guitarists, and arrangements and etudes on standards such as 'Giant Steps', ‘Stella by Starlight’, ‘What Is This Thing Called Love’, ‘On Green Dolphin Street’, ‘Just Friends’, and more.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Advanced Guitar Lessons - ADVANCED GUITAR</image:title>
<image:caption>You’ve got the barre chord thing mastered, you can play some blues licks, and maybe even learned some difficult songs like ‘Stairway to Heaven’ or ‘Hotel California’. Let’s keep that going, I have a huge repertoire of note-for-note guitar solos transcribed by artists like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and more. I also have software that can slow down the solos to make learning the really tricky parts easier, it will also adjust the pitch so you can play along to recordings that are not in standard tuning. Many students have their hands on top of playing these types of solos already, but don’t necessarily understand what the player was thinking when they approached the material. We can also sit and break down why Hendrix seemingly randomly plays the C#m pentatonic scale in the middle of ‘The Wind Cries Mary’, which is in the key of F ;)</image:caption>

      <image:title>Self Taught Guitar Lessons - self-taught GUITAR</image:title>
<image:caption>Did you read through the other pages and kind of relate to some of the points, but not all of them? Did you take lessons for 6 months when you were a kid, put it down for a while, and then start figuring stuff out on your own from tab sites and YouTube videos? I had a student recently say ‘I can wiggle my fingers around, but I have no idea what I’m doing!’. I want to help. It can be frustrating to have to go back and re-learn the basics, but in the end, to be able to communicate with other musicians is invaluable. To be able to buy a book of songs you like arranged for piano, and translate it to the guitar, is a very satisfying feeling. Your ability to play things and your ability to understand what you’re playing will exist in two different worlds for a while, but I can help you get there efficiently and effectively.</image:caption>

<image:caption>You’ve been playing in bands for years, you write your own music, you write your own parts to the songs the other guys (or girls) in the band write, and maybe have even done some really cool gigs. I can get you out of that rut where you just feel like you’re playing the same licks over and over again. I have a variety of material that will let you start coming up with your own chord voicings or we can talk about compositional techniques that will take your songwriting to new places. Feel like you’re playing the same solo over and over again? Let’s deconstruct and then reconstruct the pentatonic scale. Are you happy with your tone? I can help you take your art to the next level.</image:caption>
